About a month ago Will rediscovered these Audio CD's of our very favorite children's bible, The Jesus Storybook Bible and has been listening to them almost non-stop every afternoon during quiet time.
I didn't realize how much the stories had been sinking in until yesterday afternoon i overheard this little dialogue when all 4 kiddos were in Will and Ben's room playing and looking at a bible picture book.Sophie: "what's THAT?!?"
Will: "that's a fox."
Madeline: "is that guy STUCK in the treeeeeeee?"
Will: "No, that's zaccheaus. he's tiny. he climbed in the tree to see jesus because everyone was too tall. he was also bad because he stole taxes from people. taxes were what the people had to pay the king."
(turned a few pages and put on an all-out story-teller's tone)
Will: "and this is the story. it was a niiiiice calm night and then it got STORMY. jesus was sleeping in a fishing boat and then all his friends were afraid and he said, 'HUSH'. and the waves and the winds recognized his voice. because they had heard it. it was the same voice that made them."
Isn't that sweet? I suggest you go find one of these Bibles right away. Maybe even better, get the audio CDs. I think i need to start listening to them more often so i'll be able to re-tell these stories as well as Will can.
If you still aren't convinced here's a great review from one of our favorite pastors:
'I would urge not just families with young children to get this book, but every Christian--from pew warmers, to ministry leaders, seminarians and even theologians! Sally Lloyd-Jones has captured the heart of what it means to find Christ in all the scriptures, and has made clear even to little children that all God's revelation has been about Jesus from the beginning--a truth not all that commonly recognized even among the very learned.' -- Dr. Tim Keller, Redeemer, NY, NY

SO, SO PRECIOUS!!! Will just might be a "little preacher" in the making. :)
Love you, Joelle
Think Will will come do Bible story time with with his cousins??? That is just the sweetest thing ever-ever.
I am SO glad to see this! I am currently on the hunt for good audio Bible CD's for my kids. It started with these free audio cd's from chick-fil-a that were from Between the Lions... I realized when they started memorizing the stories from there I better take advantage of this time and let them listen to stories from God's word. I will definitely be checking this out. :)
